Emorja

On October 6 Emorja Roberson, baritone, won first place in the 5th American Spirituals Voice Competition. This competition was created to bring attention to one of the most important genres of music, American Spirituals.  Since their humble "folk" beginnings in the 18th Century, this glorious music has evolved into American classical music as indigenous art songs, while still being the catalyst for many American sacred and secular music forms.

The Winning Prize....To present a recital at illustrious "Severance Hall," home of the renowned Cleveland Orchestra. Emorja will be joined by Dr. LanYe', piano, and Eliesha Nelson, violist with The Cleveland Orchestra. It will take place on January 21st, as part of the orchestra's 2019 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration.
