Repertory Choir

Choir Performing In Front Of An Audience

The Repertory Choir is an auditioned vocal ensemble conducted by graduate students of Sacred Music at Notre Dame. The choir serves as a laboratory ensemble for the graduate choral conducting students to practice their craft and performs one concert each semester. The ensemble performs music from the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and the 20th and 21 centuries. 

Singers outside of SMND in the Repertory Choir are called Choral Scholars and are able to receive academic credit or payment to participate ($450/semester). Contact sacredmusic@nd.edu to schedule an audition.

Concordia: A Graduate Recital Choir at the University of Notre Dame

Rsz Concordia Choir

Concordia is an auditioned vocal ensemble conducted by conducting graduate students Sacred Music at Notre Dame. The choir is open to Notre Dame undergraduates and graduates from other programs, and singers from the wider Notre Dame community by audition. It serves exclusively to prepare the recitals of advanced MSM and DMA students. There are up to four concerts per semester, which typically take place on Sundays. Paid positions are available. Concordia gives conductors and singers in the program unique opportunities to perform at the highest levels of musical artistry.

Notre Dame Children's Choir

Ages: Birth through 18

Meets: After school on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays

Notre Dame Children's Choir

The Notre Dame Children’s Choir and Children’s Organ Training Program educates over 300 singers in 12 choirs each week. Choristers from birth through high school are invited to participate at no cost to families. The Choir tours, records, and commissions music annually; their first album, O Emmanuel, ranked #1 on Billboard's Chart of Traditional Classical Music for seven weeks, and their third album, Arturo Sandoval's Christmas at Notre Dame, debuted at #2 on Billboard's Chart of Jazz Music. The program also teaches piano and organ lessons to 40 children each week. All musical instruction is provided at no charge to families.

The choirs have worked with conductors from around the world including directors from Leeds Cathedral, UK; Metropolitan Cathedral of Liverpool, UK; East Anglia Cathedral, UK; the Madeleine Choir School, Salt Lake City, UT; the Indianapolis Children's Choir; the Chicago Children's Choir; the College of New Jersey, and Indiana University Bloomington. They toured through England and from New York City to Los Angeles, sang at Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Meyerson Symphony Center, and performed for the National Pastoral Musicians' Conference, Hymn Society of the United States and Canada, the Organ Historical Society, the Indiana Music Educators' Association, and TEDx.

Notre Dame Children’s Liturgical Choir & Lay Clerks

Meets: Mondays 3:45–6 p.m.

Liturgical Choir Fall 2018 Small

The Notre Dame Children’s Liturgical Choir hires adult singers to serve as Lay Clerks alongside child sopranos for mass and vespers at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and Saint Mary's College Church of Our Lady of Loretto. The choir sings the music of Palestrina, Josquin, Tallis, Howels, Britten, Stanford, Victoria, Messian, and Gregorian Chant.
