The Graduate Conducting Studio of the Sacred Music Program receives the distinguished American conductor Joseph Flummerfelt to give a masterclass this Friday, December 1st. Maestro Flummerfelt's accomplishments are numerous, and feature recordings and performances as choral director and collaborator of some of the most important ensembles and conductors of our time, including Westminster Choir, New York Choral Artists, New York Philharmonic, Leonard Bernstein, Pierre Boulez, Claudio Abbado and Daniel Barenboim, among many others. He was named "Conductor of the Year 2004" by Musical America, and he is the winner of several Grammy awards. Maestro Flummerfelt was also the teacher of our faculty members Craig Cramer and Kiera Duffy. Maestro Flummerfelt will work with the Choral Conducting graduate students on movements of Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem. The workshops will take place on Friday, December 1st, 10 am to 12 noon, and 2 pm to 4 pm, both in Crowley 115.
