First year MSM organ student, Myles Hayden, will perform his first degree recital on the Fritts organ in the Reyes Organ and Choral Hall located in the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center. "In commemoration of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, 1st year MSM organ student Myles Hayden will be playing organ works from the Lutheran tradition. These pieces will feature Lutheran composers and Lutheran chorale tunes, including the famous Martin Luther hymn, "Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott." Composers include Vincent Lübeck, J.S. Bach, William Bolcom, Samuel Scheidt, and Max Reger." …

Location: DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, Reyes Organ and Choral Hall

Second year MSM organ student, Devin Atteln, will perform his final degree recital on the Fritts organ in the Reyes Organ and Choral Hall located in the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center.  The recital will feature a heavy German Baroque and Romantic influence. Works included will include the C Major Praeludiums of both Dieterich Buxtehude and Georg Böhm. Representing the German Romantic era there will be a rare performance of Johannes Brahms's Fugue in A-Flat Minor and the complete set of Robert Schumann's Canonic Studies. To round out the program Devin will play a piece from the Nicolas de Grigny Mass as well as a piece, by Ercole Pasquini, played on the more intimate Italian organ. One of Cuba’s leading musicologists, Dr. Miriam Escudero is director of the “Esteban Salas” Musical Heritage Cabinet of the Havana City Historian Office. She is also professor at Colegio Universitario San Gerónimo, where she coordinates graduate studies in musical heritage preservation, and at the University of Arts of Cuba (ISA), where she teaches graduate-level courses. Escudero’s research has earned her important national awards such as Premio Casa de las Americas, Premio de la Academia de Ciencias de Cuba and, most recently, the 2013 Premio Academia Cubana de la Lengua.…
