Emily Meixner, a third-year doctoral student in organ performance, will present her final doctoral recital entitled “The Sixth Organ Symphony of Louis Vierne (1870-1937): An Analysis” on Saturday, April 1st. The program will begin with a lecture in which she will present research and conclusions from her doctoral dissertation of the same title and will conclude with a performance of the work. The lecture will take place at 6:30 PM in the Gail Walton Rehearsal Hall in the Coleman-Morse Center, followed by the recital at 8 PM on the Murdy organ in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart.…

Mary Catherine Levri DMA Organ Recital

Mary Catherine Levri will perform a lecture recital on Friday, April 18th at 7:00 PM in Reyes Organ and Choral Hall.  This recital will be performed in partial fulfillment of the DMA degree in sacred music.

The recital will feature the Gregorian chant-based works of Anton Heiller, a 20th century Austrian composer who had a great heart for Catholic Church music.  Levri's lecture and performance will focus on Heiller's treatment of Gregorian melodies in three major works: an organ suite for the feast of Corpus Christi, a fantasia based on the monastic solemn tone Salve Regina
