Cristian Ortega is a Colombian choral director. He studied with Luis Díaz Herodier and Cecilia Espinosa. Within his musical career he has participated in workshops and masterclasses with directors such as: Rafael Suescún Mariño, Danilo Grimoldi, Digna Guerra, Mark Anthony Carpio, Alberto Grau, María Guinand, Camila Ospina, Carmen Collado and Partrick Freer, among others. In 2014 he was a member of the Colombian Opera Chorus. From 2015 to 2021 he was part of the only professional choir in his country, the Youth Philharmonic Choir of the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra.
During undergraduate studies he belonged to the research hotbed on repositories of Colombian and Latin American composers, of which he focused on editing and reconstructing two pieces of which there were no sound records. The first one is the Kyrie Op.40 by the Bogotá composer Santos Cifuentes Rodríguez (1870-1932) and the Misa Breve Op.82 by the Bogotá composer Guillermo Uribe Holguín (1880-1971).
