Darnell & Darrell St. Romain

Darnell Allen St. Romain is a published author, scholar, and organist. He is the Associate Director of Music at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Plano, Texas, where he conducts the Children’s Choir and the Youth Choir and provides musical support for worship. He also operates a private piano studio. Darnell’s research interests include applying wisdom from Negro Spirituals to bridge the racial divide, and Black Catholic congregational song. Darnell holds a Bachelor of Music (Organ Performance) from Louisiana State University, a Master of Music (Organ Performance), a Master of Sacred Music, and a Doctor of Pastoral Music, all from Southern Methodist University.

Darrell Anthony St. Romain is a published author, scholar, and organist. St. Romain recently completed the Doctor of Pastoral Music degree at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, and he is the Director of Music at St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Mesquite, Texas. He has served congregations as organist and Director of Music in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Texas. St. Romain’s research interests include promoting Black Catholic congregational song and inculturation, especially the engagement of multilingual and multiethnic worship services. St. Romain has published several articles in The Hymn and The Canterbury Dictionary of Hymnology. He holds degrees in organ performance and sacred music from Louisiana State University and Southern Methodist University. His primary organ teachers were Herndon Spillman and Larry Palmer, and his sacred music teachers were Christopher Anderson, C. Michael Hawn, and Marcell Silva Steuernagel.
