Mary Catherine Levri will perform a lecture recital on Friday, April 18th at 7:00 PM in Reyes Organ and Choral Hall. This recital will be performed in partial fulfillment of the DMA degree in sacred music.
The recital will feature the Gregorian chant-based works of Anton Heiller, a 20th century Austrian composer who had a great heart for Catholic Church music. Levri's lecture and performance will focus on Heiller's treatment of Gregorian melodies in three major works: an organ suite for the feast of Corpus Christi, a fantasia based on the monastic solemn tone Salve Regina, and a meditation on the Good Friday antiphon, Ecce lignum crucis. All are welcome and invited to attend.
