The recital will trace themes through the history of German music from the generation that influenced J.S. Bach to Felix Mendelssohn, the composer who sparked the revival of Bach’s music. The performer will explore the use of repeated notes in the fugues of Bruhns, Reincken, and J. C. F. Fischer along with the contrapuntal treatment of the German Chorale tune, Aus tiefer Not, in the works of Fischer, Bach, and Mendelssohn.
