Cuarteto Tanguero Summer Workshop

- (part of a series)

Location: Saint Mary's College

“Tanguero Summer Workshop” brings a week full of Tango to town!  The members of Cuarteto Tanguero once again capitalize on the talent pool of the Tanguero Summer Workshop for musicians bring world class Tango performances and classes to South Bend from July 23-29, 2017.

The Tanguero Summer Workshop (workshop.moretango.org) is an opportunity for bandoneon, string players and pianists to learn about or refine their ability to perform tango music. This year’s faculty bring back Grammy Award winner Pablo Aslan, Tango Pianist and Composer Julian Peralta, and the members of the Bloomington based Cuarteto Tanguero.

A range of free free and open to the public events include Argentine Tango Dance classes (5 days), 2 Concerts, a Movie night and a Milonga (Tango dance event) with live music performed by faculty and workshop participants.

The milonga on Saturday July 29th at 7:30pm is part of the program’s mission to immerse the participants in Tango culture. A Milonga is where people go to dance tango.  For most of us who have never danced tango, there will be preparatory classes offered throughout the week at Saint Mary’s College Rice Commons (inside the Student Center)

“We hosted the program at Indiana University - Bloomington for the past 3 years and it is an exciting for us to start this new partnership with Saint Mary’s College. We are looking forward to another successful workshop and involve the community through our free events and programs during the week.” says Daniel Stein, director of the event.
