The new Wayne and Diana Murdy Family Organ in the Basilica was built by Paul Fritts and Company, Tacoma, Washington. This is the same builder who built the organ in the Reyes Organ and Choral Hall in the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center in 2004.
The striking tall case of the new organ enliven the south end of the Basilica. Prof. Margot Fassler noted that the space occupied by the former organ made the back of the Basilica look like a cave, but now the new organ lights up the whole space.
The dedication of the organ will take place on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 8:15. Bishop Daniel Jenky, C.S.C., Bishop of Peoria will bless the organ. Immediately following, Prof. Craig Cramer will play the dedicatory recital on the new organ.
