Third Coast Percussion and Notre Dame Vocale perform Reich's "Proverb"

-

Location: DeBartolo Performing Arts Center

The simplest of ideas lead to extraordinary musical statements in a program featuring the world premiere of a new work by Timothy Andres entitled Austerity Measures. Andres describes his new work as a "string quartet for percussion." Notre Dame faculty member Carmen-Helena Téllez and the vocalists from the Sacred Music Program join Third Coast for a performance of Steve Reich's iconic Proverb. The piece, for 5 singers and 4 percussionists, is set to a single line of text from philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein: "How small a thought it takes to fill a whole life."

The performance will take place Sunday, January 26th at 2:00 pm in Leighton Hall.
