October 10-12. This project is a campus-wide artistic and academic project centering on music and literary arts from the Middle East. It invites four talented young musicians to campus for a residency to conduct a workshop of Christian and secular music from the Levant. The takht ensemble’s three-day music workshop at Notre Dame will end with a concert of Middle Eastern music and a post-concert talk about performance practice in Middle Eastern music. While resident at Notre Dame, the musicians will work with Notre Dame singers and instrumental ensembles (strings and percussion).
Students may participate as members of the choir, the instrumental ensemble (mainly strings), or the percussion ensemble. For details, see the event website.
