Professor Carmen-Helena Tellez to conduct in Ecuador

The Head of the Graduate Choral Conducting Studio, Professor Carmen-Helena Téllez  is visiting Ecuador, to prepare an interdisciplinary staged performance of Mozart's Requiem with the country's Teatro Nacional Sucre and  the National Symphony Orchestra. The performance will take place on March 22 and 23 in the context the City of Quito's Sacred Music Festival. This is the second visit of Profesor Téllez to South America this year. In early January she visited the University of Chile for research, and to consult with them about a new Master's degree in Choral Conducting. Last year in October she conducted Mendelssohn's Elijah for Bogotá's Sacred Music Festival. Professor Téllez is known for her interdisciplinary interpretations of choral repertoire. Some of her work can be viewed in the pages of the Sacred Music Drama Series supported at Notre Dame by the Mellon Foundation between 2012 and 2016.
