An article by Christina Beasley (MSM in Conducting, '22)  has been accepted for publication in The Choral Journal, the international journal of the American Choral Directors Association that provides members with practical and scholarly information about choral music and its performance. Her article, "Finding New Ways to Be In Your Element: Using Gimon's Elements to Introduce Contemporary Choral Music in the Classroom" is currently scheduled to be published in the Spring of 2022. The article includes a conductor's guide for performing composer Katerina Gimon's Elements, and includes examples of how music teachers can use the piece to incorporate contemporary techniques into their choral classrooms. It also discusses how to introduce techniques such as aleatoric singing, body percussion, improvisation, and overtone singing into the classroom and why these are important for the development of well-rounded musicians.
