A.J. Lyon

MSM - Organ

A.J. Lyon is a first year Master of Sacred Music student at the University of Notre Dame, with a concentration in Organ studying under Dr. Kola Owolabi. He received his Bachelor of Music in May of 2023 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, with concentrations in Keyboard Performance (Piano) and Composition. He studied piano under Dr. Annie Jeng, and composition under Dr. Mark Engebretson and Dr. Alejandro Rutty. He also studied organ under Dr. Marya Fancey.
His career as a church musician began at the age of nine at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Asheboro, North Carolina, where he served as a pianist for nine years. From 2020 to 2023, he served as the assistant organist for Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Greensboro, North Carolina, and as their principal organist in the spring and summer of 2023 prior to attending Notre Dame.
